Woods Weathersby is experienced in all areas of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, development, tax incentives, and leasing. He has handled complex commercial transactions across the country and has structured joint ventures, partnerships, and limited liability companies. In addition, his practice includes the structuring of tax-free exchanges and payment in lieu of tax incentive transactions. Representative clients include commercial developers, investors, and banks, as well as corporate users of commercial real estate.

In his 40 years of experience, Woods has also built a land conservation practice that has a national reputation for excellence.  He has represented landowners and worked with conservation organizations such as Land Trust of Tennessee, Ducks Unlimited, The Nature Conservancy, Wetlands America Trust, and Wolf River Conservancy in many conservation easement transactions.

He has been recognized in several national publications for his real estate and banking law practice, including Chambers USA, and Super Lawyers. He was recently selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2024 in the fields of Banking and Finance Law and Real Estate Law for the eighteenth year. He was also named the Best Lawyers 2017 Banking and Finance Law “Lawyer of the Year” in Memphis. He is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Weathersby serves on the firm’s Board of Directors.
