Will Raines practices in the area of property tax law. He joined Evans Petree’s Property Tax Group as an associate attorney in 2012 and became a shareholder in the firm in 2020. He is licensed to practice law in Tennessee, Florida, and Alabama. Mr. Raines has done work on both real and personal property tax cases. He has represented clients at property tax hearings before many county boards of equalization, the Tennessee State Board of Equalization, Tennessee Chancery Court, and the Tennessee Court of Appeals.
Mr. Raines graduated from Rhodes College in 2009 with a B.A., majoring in International Business with a minor in Spanish. He graduated cum laude from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 2012. He was a senior staff member at the University of Memphis Law Review. He wrote his Law Review note on Tennessee’s Greenbelt Law, addressing the issue of whether real estate developers should be allowed to take advantage of the statute’s tax incentives. He passed the bar exam in Tennessee in 2012, Florida in 2013, and Alabama in 2015.
Mr. Raines enjoys attending film festivals, collecting sports cards, and cheering for the Memphis Grizzlies and the University of Memphis Tigers. He is a member of Downtown Church in Memphis.
