Donald (Don) E. Bourland had practiced with Bourland Heflin, PLC and its predecessors for his entire legal career beginning in 1974, concentrating on commercial real estate, business law, title insurance, and land title law matters. He has successfully represented commercial developers, lenders, real estate borrowers, sellers, purchasers, lessors, and lessees in various real estate transactions, as well as title companies and agencies in insurance defense, examination of title, and evaluation of insurance underwriting matters. A Memphis native, Don is also manager of the Evans Petree Bourland Heflin Title Insurance Agency operated by the firm and holds a title insurance license in the State of Mississippi.
Mr. Bourland was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2025 in the field of Corporate Law and Real Estate Law. This is his eleventh year for inclusion. He was also named the Best Lawyers 2020 Corporate Law “Lawyer of the Year” in Memphis.
Don is also heavily involved in the community, including being an Adult Sunday School teacher (1979-present), past Chairman, Staff-Parish Relations (2003-2005), past Chairman, Administrative Board (1995-1997 and 2020-2022), past Chairman, Missions (1990-1992), and past Chairman, Council on Ministries (1987-1989) of Christ Methodist Church in Memphis. He was also a past Chairman, Board of Directors (1990; 2000) of Memphis Emmaus Community; a past Member, Board of Directors (1994-2014) of Truth Seekers Fellowship; a past Member, Board of Directors (2001-2006) of Confessing Movement within the United Methodist Church; Legal Counsel, Mid-South Fair, Inc, from 2004-2012; and Legal Counsel, Memphis Food Bank from 1990-1992.
