Shareholder Wendy Geurin Smith*

Wendy represents community banks and small businesses in loan transactions, workouts, commercial and consumer bankruptcy cases, foreclosure proceedings, and collection litigation. Additionally, Wendy assists both lending institutions and individual property owners in real estate closing transactions and curative title proceedings.

Wendy practiced as a solo practitioner for many years as well as a partner in other local law firms prior to joining Evans Petree as a Shareholder.

During her career, she has managed multi-jurisdictional creditor bankruptcy and foreclosure practices. Her extensive experience has prepared her for the challenges of representing her clients throughout the states in the southeast region.

Wendy is involved in various local bar associations and community groups. She is involved in the local bankruptcy bar association, serves as a Director for the Mid-South Commercial Law Institute, and has served on the Bank Lawyers Committee, Credit Conference Committee, and Women in Banking Committee of the Tennessee Banker’s Association. Wendy also currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Risk Management Association (Memphis Chapter) and the Rotary Club of the Memphis East. She recently received the Rotarian of the Year Award from the Rotary Club of Memphis East for 2023-2024.
